McDONOUGH
— One of 10 alleged gang members police say are responsible for a
massive "smash and grab" burglary at a Locust Grove outlet store is now
in custody in Henry County.
Marcus
Rozier, 17, of Atlanta was booked into Henry County Jail Saturday on
charges of burglarizing Polo Ralph Lauren at Tanger Outlets in December.
Rozier,
a purported member of the notorious Atlanta-based street gang 30 Deep,
is also charged with a single count of criminal street gang activity.
Police
have obtained warrants for five suspects, including Rozier, Locust
Grove Police Detective David Donehoo said, adding that there are 10
suspects in all.
According
to Donehoo, the band of thieves gained entry into the building by
ramming a stolen pickup truck into the rolling security doors at the
front of the store, then made away with about $30,000 in merchandise.
Damages to the building itself were estimated at $90,000, Donehoo said Tuesday.
The
truck, which had been reported stolen from an Atlanta location the
previous day, was abandoned on I-75 near mile marker 212, and was later
recovered by Henry County police.
The detective said he is working with the Atlanta Police Department's gang intelligence unit on the case.
Most of the suspects are already in jail in other counties, he said.
